Spring goddess, Easter / Ostara / Easter / Easter moon - rising sun in the east.
Ostara, Eástre is the Nordic goddess of light, the bright dawn and rising light, the goddess of spring and fertility with a healing appearance.
Ascending in the east, in a golden shimmering robe with yellow shoes under which delicate seedlings sprout when walking over the earth.
The Easter bunny is always the companion of the spring goddess! The reproductive rabbit embodies fertility in particular. The "representative of the gods" hides the eggs, as a symbol for the new emergence and awakening of life.
The birch is its sacred tree, the hare, cockchafer, ladybird, stork, cuckoo and the hen are its animals, and its flowers are the daffodils.
The Ostara festival celebrates the final end of winter. Traditionally, the Easter fires are lit as close as possible to the next fire, to protect the fields and have them blessed by the gods.
In order to make the earth more fertile, the ashes of the Easter fire were sprinkled on the fields in the Ostara blessing ritual, the “field consecration”.
Easter, Várblót (Spring Festival) is also known as Sigrblót (Winner Festival) because light and warmth have triumphed over the wintry frost giants. According to the lunar calendar, Easter is celebrated on the first full moon of the 4th lunar month, calculated after the 28-day month in the lunar calendar!
The annual Easter is celebrated at the equinox from March 20 to March 21.
With her light and warmth, Ostara symbolizes the returning, shining sun after the long and dark winter.
