Replica horse head candlestick made of oak wood.
Locations in Scandinavia and Central Europe.
The horse (in the form of the Sleipnir) was always an attribute of Odin - as a wind giant it also represented the wind rose.
So the four heads may point to the four cardinal points, which refer to the sky dwarfs north, east, sudr and west, as we still find them in the Viking Age.
The evidence found in Yugoslavia could be due to the Visigoth migration period.
The candlestick was probably used in connection with Odin or Thor for cult purposes, with the wish for good weather, the fertility of the fields or for good travel weather at sea ...!
Its large distribution area therefore suggests great cultic importance.
A lot of old knowledge and tradition has been lost through Christianization.
Customers who know more about this chandelier would like to contact us so that we can complete our information - thank you!
With the new distribution of this chandelier, an almost forgotten piece of folk art and pagan tradition is to be brought out again, thus reviving old, almost forgotten customs.
The candlestick was carved from 4 pieces of oak wood. Carving takes a lot of time and knowledge in this artisanal art, because the 4 pieces are criss-crossly fitted into each other and everything must be evenly symmetrical!
- Height: about 9,45 inch (24 cm)
