Product information "Ammonite protection symbol of limestone, Ø: approx. 3,94 inch (10 cm)"
The ammonites were a sub-group of cephalopods - there must have been around 30,000 to 40,000 species. The size of the animals was usually in the range of 0,39 inch (1cm) to 11,81 inch (30 cm).

There were also exceptions, for example in 1895 a 70,87 inch (180 cm) ammonite was found in a quarry near Seppenrode (region of southern Westphalia in Germany).
Ammonites first lived about 570 million years ago in the Lower Devonian until the Cretaceous period about 70 million years ago, then died out together with the dinosaurs.

The ammonites were assigned a mystical role in different cultures of the old and new world. In the German-speaking culture, ammonites were placed in the milking bucket to promote milk production, or they were installed in the roof ridge to protect against lightning. As good luck and protection, ammonites were also attached or walled in over entrance doors.

Water is an element of life. Ammonites that have been walled / embedded in wells also indicate that the fossilized fossil should protect against harmful influences and that the source should be kept dry.

The ammonite is also called the snake stone. It is still used as a healing stone today.
