Viking ax modeled on the ax from Jutland / Mammen
Carbon steel ax with bronze fittings, from the tenth century from Jutland.

The original ax had silver wire inserts, a bird, limb animals, and other decorations.
It dates from the 10th century and is now in the National Museum in Copenhagen. The ax is a grave find.
It was placed around 970 AD during the reign of Harald Blauzahns in the grave of a Viking.
It has a bronze fitting with leather winding and a wooden handle.
Length with wooden handle approx. 29,53 inch (75 cm)
The forged ax head is  6,3 x 3,74 x 1,38 inch (16 x 9.5 x 3.5 cm) made of carbon steel, Rockwell hardness 58 - 59
Weight approx. 2,76 lbs (1250 g.) 
The ax is sharp and not suitable for exhibition fighting.
