Forged ax of the Germanic Franks, Merowinger and Alamannen after a historical pre-picture.
This high quality processed ax, a replica of a Germanic Franziska-forged ax , is hand-forged and has an elegantly curved handle made of solid ash wood.

The Franziska gained a large distribution among the Germans as a forged ax and was very popular among the Alemanns, Franks, Merovingians and other Germanic tribes. Franziska was generally worn behind the belt by the Germans - so they were always at hand!

Among the Germans, it was customary to hurl Franziska to the opening of the battle in the hostile ranks,
to create confusion and restlessness before the actual meeting.
She was also used in close combat. But Franziska, like almost every other ax, also ever present as a working ax in everyday life.

With the elegantly curved wooden handle and the striking shaped ax head, this beautiful Franziska is a real piece of jewelery. The ergonomically shaped handle of the ax, gives a good hold and ensures a good throwing behavior. The ax is, however, also suitable for all usual work and does well in house and yard.

Forerunners of the Franziska were already used in the late Roman army. There are countless finds from the Alemannic
Settlement areas and especially in the Francovian Empire of the Merovingians.
The cutting edge is already sharpened.
The ax blade is forged solidly.
We cannot guarantee the wooden shaft. We recommend sticking on an ash wood stock, found in most hardware stores.
