The Borrestil is dated to the 9th to 10th centuries, and was named after the tomb of Borre in Vestfold / Norway.
Typical for the style are animal ornaments, animal heads and knot ornaments. The Borre style is also referred to as griffon animal style. He found especially in Eastern Scandinavia distribution.
