By the way, only about 5% of all smoked salt types are really smoked. Most smoked salt types are offset with smoke aromas.
Our smoked salt is made exclusively from Dead Sea salt and smoked in the Viking style - on low-pollution Danish oak.
The oak-smoked salt is popular with many of our customers, as it is soft on the palate with its many aroma nuances and spicy in flavor. The smell is even tarter than that of juniper-smoked salt. The salt is smoked at 65 - 85 degrees in a lengthy and costly process in specially designed oven.
Using this salt gives you an idea how the Nordic peoples gained their salt. Sea water or brine was poured on the burning logs. The water content evaporates and the precipitated salt adheres to the charred logs. The salt was scraped off the wood and could be used.
The Viking Smoke Salt is ideal for:
Eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, fish and all sorts of meat. It gives the steak its special taste of meat prepared over fire - even if it is cooked in the oven.
The durability is almost unlimited. The salt vessel should always be closed well, so that the smoke flavor is not lost.
